To create a vision of the harmony
of the unequal, balance the infinite variety, the chaotic, the contradictions
in a unity.
- Hans Richter
Like scales in music, the experience of nighttime lighting of the environment for large developments and masterplans in an urban context takes visual choreography. It can start with a single light source or lighting element and when combined with other elements it creates a collective field that is both viewable from afar and up close. The challenge is to design those masterstrokes of light that can be tuned.
These individual lighting applications become participants in a concert. Like a symphony, the lighting controls change the mood and atmosphere from sundown to sunrise. These elements form part of an ongoing performance, constantly changing from dusk to dawn like a symphony. People may be able to see the place before they arrive as well as get immersed in special events throughout the year due to clever overlays of projects using light.
